Scarlet Restaurant

Caribbean · Paynes Bay · St. James

Rating: 4.4 / 5

Scarlet is a striking, red-walled bar and restaurant on the main west coast road at Paynes Bay, across from the beach. The menu is a short, bistro-style selection — Caribbean-inflected starters, grilled fish, burgers, pastas and a strong list of cocktails — and the tone is closer to a neighbourhood bar than a formal dining room. It works particularly well for drinks and a meal in the same place, and the bar counter attracts a mixed crowd of locals, expats and visitors. Dinner is the busiest service; reservations are worth making at weekends.
