Barbados Transport Board

Government Buses · Island-Wide ·

.50 BBD

Rating: 4.4 / 5

The Barbados Transport Board operates the island's blue government buses, which run fixed routes across the whole island for a flat .50 BBD fare. Buses are air-conditioned, slower and more sedate than the ZR vans, and a useful option for longer or cross-island trips. The main terminals are at Fairchild Street and Princess Alice Highway in Bridgetown, plus Speightstown in the north and Oistins in the south. Schedules are posted on the Transport Board's website and at main stops. Exact change is helpful, and the buses do not run all night.

About travel in Barbados

Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI) receives direct flights from London, New York, Toronto, Miami, and across the Caribbean. Getting around the island is easy — ZR vans (yellow minibuses) run fixed routes for just BBD. Car rental is popular for exploring at your own pace (drive on the left). Taxis are plentiful, and the Bridgetown cruise port welcomes major cruise lines year-round.
