The actual distillery itself is up in St. Lucy; the Brandons site is the tour centre. Mon-Fri 9am-5pm; 246-227-8800; mountgayrum.com.
Mount Gay traces its origin to 1703, making it the oldest commercial rum brand in the world. The deed dating to that year was signed in St. Lucy parish, and Mount Gay rum has been continuously produced in Barbados ever since. The brand was acquired by Rémy Cointreau in 1989 but has remained Barbadian-distilled.
