If you are arrested in Barbados, know the basics. You have the right to remain silent. You have the right to a lawyer — ask for one before answering questions. You have the right to contact your embassy or High Commission, and they can provide a list of local attorneys. Do not sign statements, waivers or confessions without legal counsel present. You may be held for up to 24 hours before being formally charged or released. The Royal Barbados Police Force must tell you why you have been detained.
