Carlisle Bay

South Coast · St. Michael

Rating: 4.7 / 5

A sweeping crescent of golden sand just south of Bridgetown, Carlisle Bay is the easiest spot on the island to combine swimming, snorkelling, and a proper beach-club day. A cluster of 19th- and 20th-century shipwrecks lie in shallow water close to shore, now colonised by coral and home to reef fish, turtles, and the occasional seahorse — it's one of the best beginner snorkelling sites in the Caribbean. The Boatyard, Copacabana, and Harbour Lights all sit along this stretch of Bay Street, and the water is consistently calm. Buses from Bridgetown drop right at the beach.
